National University of Singapore (NUS)

The National University of Singapore (NUS) is a national public research university in Singapore. It was officially established in 1980 by the merging of the University of Singapore and Nanyang University.[4]

The university offers degree programmes in disciplines at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including in the sciences, medicine and dentistry, design and environment, law, arts and social sciences, engineering, business, computing, and music.[5] NUS's main campus is located adjacent to the Kent Ridge subzone of Queenstown.[6] The Duke–NUS Medical School is located at the Outram campus.[7] The Bukit Timah campus houses the Faculty of Law and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. NUS's affiliated faculty members and researchers include one Nobel Prize laureate,[8] one Tang Prize laureate, and one Vautrin Lud laureate.

Nanyang Technological University (NTU)

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is a public research university in Singapore. Founded in 1981, it is also the second oldest autonomous university in the country.

The university is organised across numerous colleges and schools, including the College of Engineering, College of Science, Nanyang Business School, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, College of Computing and Data Science,[16] Graduate College, National Institute of Education, and S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies. NTU is also home to two Research Centres of Excellence – the Singapore Centre on Environmental Life Sciences Engineering, and Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science, and many University Research Institutes such as Earth Observatory of Science (which was a Research Centre of Excellence from June 2008 to June 2023, and transitioned to a University Research Institute in July 2023).

Singapore Management University (SMU)

Singapore Management University (SMU) is a publicly funded private university in Singapore. Founded in 2000, SMU is the third oldest autonomous university in the country, modelling its education after the Wharton School.[5] The university is triple accredited by AACSBEQUIS and AMBA. In 2024, SMU was ranked 44th in the world for Business and Management Studies, while also placing in the top 100 for Economics and Finance by QS.[6]

Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)

SUTD's interim campus was at the former ITE College Dover campus in Dover from its founding in April 2012 until December 2014. Its permanent campus, which opened in January 2015, is located near the Changi Business Park, and is served by Upper Changi Station on the Downtown MRT line.[7] As of 2018, it is the only university to be located in the eastern part of Singapore. Through an open selection process, SUTD appointed DP Architects Pte. Ltd., in collaboration with UNStudio from Amsterdam, to design the academic cluster of its permanent campus in Upper Changi.

Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)

The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT or Singaporetech) is a public autonomous university in Singapore.[4] The university offers industry-focused, applied degree programmes; it confers its own degree programmes as well as specialised degree programmes with overseas universities.[5]

The university's degree programmes are grouped into five clusters: Engineering (ENG), Food, Chemical and Biotechnology (FCB), Infocomm Technology (ICT), Health and Social Sciences (HSS), and Business, Communication and Design (BCD).

Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)

The Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) is a public autonomous university in Singapore.[4][5] Established in 2017, SUSS focuses on applied degree programmes primarily in the social sciences.[6] In 2017, SUSS received its inaugural class of 2,137 graduates.[7][8]

University of the Arts Singapore (UAS)

The University of the Arts Singapore[1] (UAS) is Singapore's first public-funded private university of the arts. It was formally announced in 2021, as an alliance between LASALLE College of the Arts (LASALLE) and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). Under this arrangement, the two institutions operate as distinct entities yet allows students to access opportunities from both schools.[2]

The UAS office is located at the National Design Centre in Middle Road, amidst the arts and heritage precinct of Bras Basah Bugis.

UAS commenced its inaugural intake in August 2024 and confers degrees as Singapore's 7th University.
